After getting drunk, Kevin Edwards called his girlfriend, Bianca. When he woke up the next day, he didn’t remember anything and said, “Find the woman from last night!” … Norah White, Kevin’s secret wife, was finally discouraged and sent a divorce agreement. The reason for the divorce was that the woman liked children, but her husband was infertile, which led to the breakdown of their relationship.

Kevin, who had no idea, received the divorce agreement and was furious. He asked someone to find Norah and prove her wrong.

One night, as Norah came home from work, she was pushed by Kevin into the corner of the stairs. “Who allowed you to divorce me without my consent?”

Norah replied, “You are incompetent, and you don’t want me to find someone who is capable?”

That night, Kevin wanted to show Norah whether he was capable or not. But Norah took out a pregnancy test report from her bag, and Kevin’s anger flared again. “Whose child is this?”

Kevin searched everywhere for the father of the child and vowed to confront him. Who would have thought that he would discover it was himself?

Chapter 1

In the hotel room, Norah White woke up feeling sore all over. She rubbed her brow and was about to get up when she noticed the tall figure lying next to her.

The man had an incredibly handsome face with sharp features and deep eyebrows. He was still sleeping soundly.

Norah sat up, and the quilt slipped off, revealing several marks on her fair shoulders. She got out of bed, and bloodstains were visible on the sheets. Realizing she had to go to work, she picked up the messy business suit from the floor and put it on. The stockings were torn, so she rolled them into a ball and threw them in the trash, then put on her high heels.

There was a knock at the door.

Now dressed neatly, Norah, back in her role as a capable secretary, grabbed her bag and walked out. A beautiful girl entered the room. She was called.

Norah said, "Just lie in bed and wait for him to wake up. Don't say anything else."

She looked at the sleeping man, feeling a pang of jealousy, and then walked out of the room. she didn't want Kevin Edwards to know they had slept together. They had an agreement that they could divorce after three years of a secret marriage, during which they were not to cross any lines.

She had been Kevin's personal secretary for seven years and his wife for three. Since graduation, she had stayed by his side.

That day, he warned her that the distance between them could only be that of a superior and a subordinate.

Norah stood by the corridor window, still thinking about last night. Kevin had held her in bed and called her "Bianca." Her heart ached.

Bianca was Kevin's first love. He saw Norah as a substitute for Bianca.

Norah knew Kevin didn't want anything to happen between them. This marriage, which only she took seriously, should end. Last night was meant to put an end to their three years together.

She took out her cell phone and saw a headline: "Rising Star Singer Bianca Lynch Returns to Craggaville!"

Norah clenched her phone, feeling a wave of bitterness and tears in her eyes. She finally understood why Kevin got drunk last night and cried in her arms. She smiled bitterly, put away her phone, and took out a pack of cigarettes.

She lit one and took a drag, the smoke blurring her lonely and beautiful face.

At that moment, Tessa hurried over, panting. "Miss White, Mr. Edwards's suit has arrived. I'll take it in."

Norah's thoughts were interrupted. She turned to Tessa and said, "Wait."

Tessa stopped. "Anything else, Miss White?"

"Mr. Edwards doesn't like blue. Change it to black and use a checkered tie. Make sure it's ironed well, without wrinkles. Don't put it in a transparent bag; he doesn't like the sound of plastic. Just hang it on the hanger and send it to him."

Norah knew all of Kevin's habits and had never made a mistake in all these years.

Tessa was shocked. In the past three months, Mr. Edwards's stern demeanor had scared her. She almost got into trouble again today.

Tessa hurried to make the changes. "Thank you, Miss White."

Suddenly, a low voice came from the suite: "Get out!"

Then there was a woman's frightened scream.

After a while, the door opened.

Tessa's eyes were red, and she looked dejected. She had been scolded, and Mr. Edwards was quite irritable.

She looked to Norah for help. "Miss White, Mr. Edwards asked you to come in."

Norah looked at the open door, feeling apprehensive. "You go down first."

She put out the cigarette in the ashtray and walked into the suite. The room was a mess, with a broken lamp and a mobile phone with a shattered screen still vibrating. The girl was too scared to move, standing naked with a guilty look in her eyes.

Kevin sat gloomily on the bed. He had a well-proportioned body, with clear muscles and a broad chest. His handsome face was dark, his eyes sinister, and he was on the verge of anger.

Norah stepped forward, turned on the light, poured a glass of water, and placed it on the bedside table. "Mr. Edwards, there is a meeting at 9:30. You can get up now."

Kevin's eyes were fixed on the girl, his expression incredulous.

Norah noticed and said to the girl, "You can go now."

The girl felt relieved and quickly picked up her clothes and left.

Everything became calm.

Kevin shifted his gaze to Norah's face.

Norah habitually handed him the water and placed the shirt beside the bed. "Mr. Edwards, you can change your clothes."

Kevin frowned, his displeasure evident, and said coldly, "Where did you go last night?"

Norah was slightly startled. Was he blaming her for not keeping an eye on him and letting another woman take advantage?

She narrowed her eyes slightly. "Mr. Edwards, you were drunk and had sex. We're all adults; you don't have to care too much."

Her dull tone seemed to say she would take care of it for him and keep other women away.

Kevin stared at her, veins bulging on his forehead. "I'll ask you one last time, where did you go last night?"

Norah felt nervous. "I was too tired from dealing with the project and fell asleep in the office."

As soon as she finished speaking, Kevin snorted coldly. His face was cold, his thin lips tightly pursed. He got up from the bed and wrapped himself in a bath towel.

Norah looked at him, her eyes a little wet. Kevin always covered himself in front of her, as if it was disgusting for her to look at him. Last night, when Kevin thought she was Bianca, he wasn't like this at all.

When she came to her senses, Kevin had finished his shower and stood in front of the mirror. Norah walked over and buttoned his shirt as usual.

Kevin was very tall, 1.88 meters. Although Norah was 1.68 meters, she was still a bit short to tie his tie.

Kevin, still angry, kept saying sorry but was too proud to bend down.

Norah stood on tiptoe and passed the tie around his neck. As she concentrated on tying it, Kevin's warm breath brushed her ear, and his voice was hoarse. "Norah, that woman last night was you."

Chapter 2

Hearing the voice, Norah was startled and almost twisted her ankle. She wobbled and leaned against Kevin.

Feeling her weight against him, Kevin supported her waist with his hand.

The warmth of his touch immediately reminded her of the passionate scene from last night.

Norah calmed herself and looked up into his deep eyes. His gaze was serious, questioning, and doubtful, as if he was trying to see through her.

Norah's heart raced. She couldn't bear to look at him any longer and lowered her head.

When Kevin thought it was not Norah, he was furious. If he knew it was Bianca, things would be much better. But part of her wanted to know if it could change their relationship.

She didn't dare to meet his eyes. "Why do you ask that?"

Only she knew she hoped he would realize the truth. However, Kevin chuckled. "You don't have the courage."

Norah's hands froze, and she lowered her eyes.

Kevin didn't want it to be her. Their marriage was just an agreement, set to end soon.

Suddenly, Kevin grabbed her hand tightly.

Her heart skipped a beat. She looked up and saw him staring at her coldly, scrutinizing her intensely.

Norah's heart pounded. She tried to pull her hand back, but Kevin pressed her against the floor-length mirror.

"What are you doing?"

Norah tried to sound calm, but her trembling voice revealed her fear and nervousness.

Kevin asked, "Did you really fall asleep in the office?"

Norah looked into his eyes. Did he doubt her?

She remembered their wedding night three years ago. She thought he was marrying her willingly. She reached out to touch his hand, but he had stood up with a sullen face.

"Norah, I'm marrying you just to fulfill Grandpa's last wish. In three years, we'll go our separate ways. Until then, don't touch me, or you'll see my true colors."

He didn't let her touch him to keep his virginity for his sweetheart, Bianca.

Norah looked down. "Yeah."

Suddenly, Kevin's hand moved from her neck down to her third button.

"The button is done wrong."

Norah saw that the button was indeed misaligned.

Her breath tightened. She slapped his hand away and quickly fixed it. "Sorry, it was a mistake. I'll pay attention next time. It won't happen again."

Kevin became irritated, pushed her away, and kept a distance. He straightened his collar. "Don't make such mistakes again."

Norah stared at the floor, feeling as if her heart was being pulled. Kevin didn't allow her mistakes, but what about his?

Kevin looked back at her. "What are you still doing here? Why don't you prepare for the meeting?"

Norah still lowered her head. "Kevin, Bianca is back."

Kevin paused. It was the first time she had called him by his name in three years.

Norah raised her head, forcing back tears. "We should get a divorce."

Hearing this, the veins on Kevin's hand jumped, and his face darkened. "Norah, it's work time now. Do what you should."

Then he turned and strode away.

Norah watched his back, struggling to breathe. A tear fell on her hand. She cried after all.

But Kevin was right. She was still his secretary and had to work. The meeting documents were at home. She needed to go back to get them, and the divorce agreement she had prepared three years ago.

---

In the Edwards' President's Office.

Kevin leaned back in his chair, frowning. There was a knock at the door, and his assistant, Kian, walked in.

"Mr. Edwards, I checked. Norah did sleep in the office last night."

Kevin frowned even deeper.

"Also, Miss Bianca went to your hotel last night and checked your room number with the front desk."

Meanwhile, Norah returned to the Edwards' villa. As soon as she stepped in, she heard Siena Edwards's sarcastic voice. "Why are you back? The Edwards family doesn't keep idle people, especially hens like you who can't lay eggs."

Norah was used to her mother-in-law's sarcasm. But having a child wasn't up to her alone. Soon, she wouldn't have to worry about being scolded. She wouldn't need to take the medicine prescribed for having a baby anymore.

Norah replied politely, "I came back to get the documents Mr. Edwards needs for the meeting."

Siena retorted, "Such important documents should have been prepared in advance. Are you trying to shirk work? Don't forget, you owe our family 10 million! You can't repay it even if you work for my son forever! And you dare to be lazy!"

Norah lowered her eyes, feeling pain.

She couldn't forget that Grandpa Edwards helped her father pay off the debt and proposed the marriage.

So, when she talked about divorce with Kevin, he had no emotions and just asked her to do her job well.

To him, after the marriage ended, the debt still needed to be repaid.

"Don't worry, Mom, I will pay off the money. I'll take the documents and go. They're waiting for me."

Norah started towards Kevin's study.

Siena said, "I haven't asked you to leave yet. Do you know the rules? I need to ask you something."

Norah: "Sorry, Mom."

Siena: "Have you been to the hospital this month? Any news?"

Norah: "Mr. Edwards and I are busy. We'll try when we have time."

Siena's face changed, and she scolded, "I've heard this countless times. If you can't do it, find someone who can. Divorce Kevin immediately!"

Norah's face turned pale. She knew divorce was inevitable, but she still wanted to be clear.

Norah: "Is this what he wants?"

"What else?" Siena replied.

Norah's face lost color.

"Aunt, your favorite chicken soup is ready. Try it." At that moment, a woman came from the kitchen, interrupting the silence.

Norah froze. She looked up and saw Bianca wearing an apron and holding a soup spoon.

Chapter 3

When Bianca saw Norah, her smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly greeted her gently, "Are you my aunt's guest? I just made some more soup. Come in and sit down."

Her demeanor was calm, and she exuded the confidence of a hostess. It felt like Norah was the guest. And soon, she would be an outsider.

Norah frowned, feeling very uncomfortable. When she married Kevin, she announced it to the whole city, and Bianca had even sent a letter of congratulations. It was impossible for her not to know Norah was Kevin's wife.

Seeing Norah standing at the door, Bianca hurried over and took her hand. "A guest is a guest. Don't be polite, come in."

When she got closer, Norah caught a whiff of a light jasmine scent—Kevin had given her a bottle of this fragrance last year. It was exactly the same.

Her throat tightened, and her breathing became heavy, as if her feet were weighed down and she couldn't move.

Seeing Norah standing there motionless, Siena frowned unhappily. "Norah, what are you doing just standing there? We have guests at home, and you don't even pour a cup of tea!"

Norah looked at Siena, knowing she shouldn't argue but still asked, "Mom, why is she here?"

Siena replied, "She came back to Craggaville. Of course she has to visit me. Why can't she come to our house? I already asked Kevin, and he didn't object. Why are you questioning it?"

"I didn't mean that," Norah said, lowering her head.

Bianca interjected, "Oh, you're Norah. Kevin didn't show me your photo when he got married, so I didn't recognize you. Don't be angry."

Norah looked at Bianca's bright smile. How could Kevin let his favorite woman, Bianca, see his wedding photos with another woman?

Siena's scolding voice rang out again. "Why don't you go and pour water for Bianca?"

Norah nodded and took the hot tea beside her.

By this time, Bianca and Siena were already sitting on the sofa, talking and laughing. Siena was even getting Bianca an apron. Siena smiled kindly, a look Norah had never seen before. Suppressing her discomfort, she poured water for Bianca.

Bianca reached out to take the cup.

Knowing the tea was hot, Norah tried to stop her, but Bianca knocked over the cup, spilling hot water on her hand.

Hiss!

Norah gasped, but Bianca screamed. "Ah!"

Siena turned around, looking worried. "What's wrong?"

Bianca's eyes filled with tears. "It's okay, Auntie, she didn't mean it."

Seeing Bianca's fingers turning red and swollen, Siena's face turned cold. She slapped Norah across the face.

The slap stunned Norah. She couldn't believe Siena had hit her so impulsively.

"What's wrong with you? Do you know that Bianca's hands are for playing the piano? If they're burned, can you afford to pay for it?" Siena shouted.

Norah's face burned with pain, but her heart felt as cold as ice. She turned her head to look at them. "She moved the cup herself. What does it have to do with me?"

Siena glared at her. "You dare talk back to me? Lock her up!"

Two servants came over and grabbed Norah.

Her face turned pale. She knew what they were going to do and struggled. "Let me go! Let me go!"

But her strength was no match for theirs. They dragged her into a dark room and locked the door.

Inside, Norah couldn't see anything. She patted the door and then sat on the ground, her legs weak.

She felt her strength drain away, her whole body trembling. She held her head with both hands, living in pain in the darkness.

In the living room, Norah's cell phone kept ringing.

Siena was treating Bianca's wound when she heard the noise. Seeing "Kevin" on the screen, she answered the call without hesitation. "Hello, Kevin."

On the phone, Kevin sounded surprised. "Mom?"

"It's me," Siena replied.

Kevin paused, narrowing his eyes. "Where's Norah?"

"She's fine at home," Siena lied.

Kevin didn't suspect anything. "Ask her to send me a document. It's in the study drawer."

When she hung up, Bianca had already noticed the call. "Aunt, was that Kevin?"

"Yes," Siena said. "He asked Norah to send a document. She got the chance to marry Kevin because she was his secretary."

She took Bianca's hand and smiled. "Bianca, if you hadn't gone abroad, Kevin would have married you. If you were the daughter-in-law of the Edwards family, we would have had a grandchild by now. You should go and deliver the documents to Kevin."

"Is that okay?" Bianca asked hesitantly.

"Of course. Kevin will be happy to see you after all these years," Siena assured her. "I also hope you can give me a grandson!"

Blushing, Bianca said, "Aunt, don't say that. I'll deliver the documents first."

Her words gave Bianca hope.

Norah and Kevin had no children after so many years. Their marriage was loveless.

Maybe Kevin had been waiting for her return all these years.

She put on sunglasses and a mask, afraid of being recognized, and left the house in a nanny car.

She wanted to surprise him and asked everyone at the company to keep it a secret.

In his office, Kevin checked the time. The meeting was about to start, but Norah hadn't arrived yet. There was a noise at the door.

Kevin turned his chair around, his face sullen. Without looking up, he said coldly, "Do you know what time it is?"

The other person didn't respond.

Finding it strange, Kevin looked up and saw Bianca standing at the door.

"Kevin."

Bianca felt nervous but excited. The face she had thought about day and night was right in front of her, making her feel like she was dreaming.

Kevin quickly looked away. "Why are you here?"

Bianca smiled. "I went to see my aunt today."

Kevin frowned deeply. "Who allowed you to go?"

Her smile turned awkward, her heart aching as if she shouldn't have gone.

She tried to control her emotions and lowered her eyes. "I wanted to see my aunt first when I returned to Craggaville. I'm here to give you something."

She carefully took out the documents from her bag. Kevin saw the document that should have been with Norah.

Chapter 4

"Miss White seems to be in a bad mood today. She didn't want to deliver the documents, so I had to do it," Bianca said, showing Kevin her burned hand. "Kevin, don't blame Miss White. I don't think she did it on purpose. It didn't delay the time."

Kevin's face darkened, but he maintained his composure in front of Bianca. He loosened his tie and said calmly, "It's okay."

Changing the subject, he added, "Since you're here, have a seat for a while."

Bianca felt a surge of happiness. At least he accepted her presence and didn't seem to hate her.

"Don't you have a meeting? Will I disturb you?" she asked.

Kevin made a phone call. "The meeting will be postponed for half an hour."

Bianca's lips curled into a smile. Before coming, she had worried whether Kevin would resent her for leaving without saying goodbye. But it seemed things weren't as bad as she had imagined. Time could be made up.

Bianca sat on the sofa, eager to explain herself. "Kevin, I have a lot to say to you. I know it was wrong of me to leave without saying goodbye, but I'm back..."

"I'll take care of my work first," Kevin interrupted her.

Swallowing her words, Bianca nodded. "Then I'll wait until you're done."

She didn't dare interrupt and watched as Kevin busied himself. She didn't know how long it would be before they could talk face to face.

It wasn't until Kian came in that Kevin paused his work.

Bianca smiled and called out, "Kevin, I..."

Kevin asked, "Does your hand still hurt?"

Did he notice her injury and care about her?

Bianca quickly shook her head. "It doesn't hurt anymore."

"Good," Kevin responded lightly, taking a bowl of soup from Kian. "I heard you weren't used to the climate and water since returning to Craggaville. Your throat is uncomfortable. Drink this medicine. It's good for your throat."

Bianca looked at the steaming bowl of soup, feeling a sense of relief.

Kevin had been keeping up with her news, even knowing about her throat discomfort. It showed he still cared about her.

She took the medicine, smiling. "Kevin, you still care about me so much. I'm very grateful."

The medicine had an unpleasant smell, but Bianca drank it all in one gulp, not leaving a drop.

Seeing her finish the soup, Kevin shifted his gaze.

"Mr. Edwards, the meeting is about to start," Kian reminded him.

Kevin looked at Bianca. "I'm busy. You should go back."

Bianca wiped her mouth, unable to say anything else. She nodded sympathetically. "Okay, I'll come to see you later."

Kevin walked out.

Bianca watched him leave, her eyes lingering until he disappeared. She sent a text message to her agent: "I made the right bet this time. He still loves me."

As Kevin walked towards the meeting room, Kian asked, "Mr. Edwards, why did we need to add contraceptive pills to the soup?"

Kevin's expression remained cold. "Bianca has been to the hotel."

Kian understood now. Kevin feared that the woman from last night might have been Bianca, and he wanted to prevent any chance of pregnancy.

One day, Norah didn't come to the company, nor did she call in for leave. Normally, she was always with Kevin, his right-hand, never making mistakes. But recently, she had become more willful, not showing up and not saying anything.

Kevin was angry, his face gloomy all day, making the company's employees fearful of making mistakes.

After work, Kevin returned to Edwards Villa.

By then, Norah had been released.

In the bedroom, Norah lay on the bed, her hands still trembling, her eyes red, and she was in shock. The burn on her hand had formed blisters.

Compared to the scars on her heart, the physical pain was hardly noticeable. Kevin arrived at the door, and a servant came over to change his shoes.

He looked gloomy and asked, "Where is madam?"

"She's upstairs," the servant replied. "Madam hasn't come out since she came back."

Kevin went upstairs. He opened the bedroom door and saw a lump on the bed, even her head covered.

Her abnormal behavior confused Kevin. He walked to the head of the bed, bent over, and touched the quilt.

"Don't touch me!" Norah slapped his hand away.

She had heard the noise at the door, thinking they were coming to lock her up again. Every footstep felt like it was crushing her heart. She covered herself tightly with the quilt, falling into endless panic until someone lifted it. She pushed his hand away.

Kevin was surprised by her reaction. His face sank, and his voice turned cold. "Norah, if you weren't pretending to be a ghost, do you think I want to touch you?"

Realizing it was Kevin, Norah's anxious heart calmed slightly. But his words still hurt her broken heart. She replied, "Mr. Edwards, I didn't know it was you."

"If not me, who else could be in this house?" Kevin mocked. "Or has your mind drifted outside?"

Norah pursed her lips, Siena's harsh words replaying in her mind. Yes, Bianca was more suitable for Kevin. Now that Bianca was back, they could resume their relationship, and she would have no place.

"I'm not feeling well today," Norah said, knowing she had become the unnecessary one. "Bianca delivered the documents. I hope it didn't delay your work."

Her willful behavior today made Kevin agitated. "Norah, since you're so sensible, why did you cause so many problems!"

Norah thought, what kind of trouble did she make? She had only made her mother angry and hurt Bianca's hand.

She hid her hand under the quilt, her heart growing colder. "It won't happen again."

After the divorce, such things wouldn't occur. She wouldn't hinder them anymore.

Norah's body stiffened. She asked, "Has the woman from last night been found?"

"The surveillance is broken, and she hasn't been found yet," Kevin frowned, staring at her. "What did you do at home all day?"

Norah looked outside; it was already dark.

Kevin felt she had been lazy, not coming to the company for a day.

"I'll go now," Norah said, not wanting to explain further. After repaying her debt to the Edwards family, they would be even.

The seven-year one-sided relationship should come to an end. She got up, dressed, and walked around him to leave. Without him, she had no place to stay. She was tired and didn't want to suffer anymore.

Kevin noticed her burned hand, more serious than Bianca's.

As Norah was about to leave, Kevin said, "Wait!"

Chapter 5

Norah stopped. Instead of the harmonious relationship they once had, their dynamic had become more like that of a superior and subordinate: "Mr. Edwards, is there anything else you want to say?"

Kevin turned around and stared at Norah's distant face. In a commanding tone, he said, "Sit down."

Norah suddenly didn't understand what he wanted to do. Kevin walked over to her, and as he got closer, she felt the air thin, making her feel nervous and a little strange. She didn't move, but Kevin took the initiative to hold her hand.

When his warm palm touched her, she felt like she was burned by something and wanted to pull away, but Kevin held her hand firmly, not giving her a chance to pull it back. He pulled her aside and asked with a frown, "Your hand is injured, didn't you notice?"

His concern surprised Norah. "I-I'm fine."

"Your hand has blisters," Kevin said. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Norah lowered her eyes and looked at his large palms as he examined her wounds. Over the years, she had longed to hold his hand, to be warmed, and to be led in a direction, but there had been no opportunity. When she wanted to give up, he gave her a little warmth.

"It's a small matter. I think it will be fine in two days," Norah replied.

"I'll ask someone to bring the medicine," Kevin said.

Norah felt her eyes grow hot. After years of perseverance, it seemed she was finally getting some reward. But she reminded herself that he didn't love her.

Kevin took the medicine and applied it to her wound. As she watched him carefully tend to her injury, she felt a glimmer of hope that she might become the woman he loved. It seemed that a small wound could make him pay more attention to her.

A tear fell from her eye, landing on the back of Kevin's hand.

Kevin looked up and saw Norah's wet eyes. It was the first time he had seen her show such emotion in front of him.

"Why are you crying? Did it hurt?" Kevin asked.

Norah felt her emotions were too volatile, unlike her usual self. "It doesn't hurt. My eyes are just uncomfortable. Mr. Edwards, I won't do this next time."

Kevin had heard her polite words countless times and was a little tired of them. He frowned and said, "At home, not in the company, you don't have to be fully armed in front of me every day. At home, you can call me by my name."

But Norah had been like this for the past seven years. In the company, she was a qualified secretary. At home, with the title of Mrs. Edwards, she was just doing what a secretary should do.

Norah looked at his face, which she had admired for many years. Feelings that were not reciprocated would eventually lead to exhaustion. She paused but still said, "Kevin, when are we going to get the divorce?"

Kevin pulled her into his arms, making Norah's body stiffen, her head resting on his shoulder, unable to say anything.

"I'm tired today. Let's talk about it tomorrow," Kevin said.

Norah had no choice but to drop the topic. Lying on the bed, she felt Kevin's body close to hers, feeling his warmth.

His hands were around her waist, and she was enveloped in the sharp fragrance of cypress and pine, which gave her a sense of security.

His large palms rested on her lower abdomen, making her body shrink slightly. His warm breath reached her ears again: "Are you ticklish?"

Norah lowered her eyes. "I'm not used to it."

Hearing this, Kevin became more proactive, holding her tightly in his arms. "Then slowly get used to it. One day you will."

Norah leaned into his arms, feeling his hot breath on her face, making her cheeks flush slightly.

She looked up and wondered if there could be a turnaround in their marriage. She longed to change her identity.

She said, "Kevin, if possible, can we..."

Kevin's phone rang, drawing his attention.

Norah's unspoken words lingered. Could she be his wife? Could she stop appearing in his life only as a secretary?

But this fleeting hope vanished when she saw the name "Bianca" on the screen. It brought her back to reality.

Kevin's face regained its calm as he let go of her, sat up, and took the call.

"Hello."

Norah watched him walk out of the bedroom to answer Bianca's call. Her heart sank, and a sneer appeared on her lips: 'Norah, how could you have such a fantasy? His heart is with Bianca, and he will never have feelings for you. He said this when you got married three years ago.'

Norah raised her head, feeling a profound sadness. The warmth in her eyes intensified. She closed her eyes, determined not to cry for him anymore.

Kevin didn't know that since she learned of Bianca, she had only cried for him in secret, never letting him see. She remembered her identity well, just a secretary beside him.

Kevin walked back after answering the phone. Seeing that Norah was still awake, he reminded her, "Something happened at the company. I have to go back. You should go to bed early."

Norah didn't look at him, not wanting him to see her vulnerable side. "I know. Go ahead. I'll be at work on time tomorrow."

"Yeah," Kevin responded, took his coat, and left.

Hearing the car start and the sound fade away, her heart felt like it was breaking.

Norah didn't sleep much that night.

The next day, she went to work very early. There were only a few people in the office, and she performed her duties as usual, taking care of Kevin's work in an orderly manner.

But Kevin didn't come to the office today. Norah called him several times, but his phone was always turned off.

Tessa, another secretary, was anxious. "Ms. White, Mr. Edwards isn't here today, and I don't know where he went. The inspection work at the construction site can only rely on you."

As Kevin's secretary, Norah was familiar with most of the company's work and knew this project well.

After making one last call and giving up when she couldn't reach him, Norah remembered he had answered Bianca's call last night. He hadn't come to the office and hadn't returned all night. He must have gone to see her.

She suppressed the bitterness in her heart. "Then let's not wait for Mr. Edwards. Let's go first."

The scorching heat outside greeted her as she arrived at the construction site. The building under construction was still just a framework, messy and full of dust and steel bars. The machines made a huge noise.

Norah had been here several times and was familiar with it, so she quickly went through the process.

But suddenly, someone shouted: "Be careful!"

Norah looked up, only to see a piece of glass falling directly towards her head.

Chapter 6

Norah was dizzy. She only heard someone anxiously saying, "What happened to you? You made such a mistake!"

As the voice faded away, Norah fainted. When she woke up again, she was in the hospital, looking at the white ceiling, still dizzy and with a severe headache.

"Ms. White, you're awake!" Tessa sat up from the chair, her eyes red, and asked anxiously, "Are you feeling uncomfortable? Do you want me to call a doctor?"

Norah looked at her, and although she was still very weak, she sat up subconsciously. "I'm fine. How is the construction site? Are there any other people injured?"

Tessa said, "Don't worry about the construction site now. You were hit and got a concussion. I was scared to death. I thought you wouldn't wake up." She started crying again.

Tessa was an assistant who followed Norah. Norah usually took good care of her. She was young and had never encountered such an emergency, so she was scared.

"Didn't I wake up? Don't worry too much," Norah comforted Tessa.

Norah touched her forehead, which was wrapped in white gauze and still felt painful. She frowned and asked, "Is there any problem at the construction site?"

She was afraid that such an emergency would delay their construction.

"It's okay, Miss White. You are so seriously injured, and you still care about the construction site. You work very hard on weekdays, and you have to worry about us. Lie down and rest!" Tessa felt guilty. If she hadn't urged Norah to go, such an accident would not have happened. She didn't want to report it to her.

Norah was used to it. It seemed that for so many years, she had been a working machine, considering others and taking care of the overall situation for Kevin's comfort. Subconsciously, she would pay more attention to work. Besides, she owed the Edwards family 10 million, and she couldn't feel at ease.

Excited voices just came from outside, like little fans seeing a big star.

"Oh my god, is that singer also in this hospital?"

"Yes, I just saw her, Bianca, a big star. This is the first time I've seen her so close!"

"Is she injured? Is she seriously injured?" they asked with concern.

"Make way, everyone!"

A group of bodyguards cleared the way in front, blocking all the strangers outside to avoid being photographed. Seeing that, these voices gradually disappeared from Norah's ears. But it still attracted her attention because she saw Kevin's tall figure, tightly protecting Bianca by his side.

Bianca looked like a beautiful girl next to him, with her head down, her eyes red, her face pale, and she looked very weak.

Her appearance caused a lot of commotion, but with the bodyguards clearing the way, it quickly returned to calm. Their figures were next to Norah's ward. Next to it was the emergency room.

"Isn't this Mr. Edwards?"

Tessa saw it and was more surprised than anyone else. She had been looking for Kevin all morning but couldn't find him. But she saw him in the hospital, and he was accompanying the singer Bianca. This inevitably made her gossip.

Tessa said again, "Mr. Edwards never misses important events. He even lost his phone call to accompany Bianca. Could it be that they are together? No wonder Bianca didn't need to say hello when he came to the company that day. It was a privilege given by Mr. Edwards. Miss White, is Mr. Edwards not the fiancé who silently supports her behind the scenes as reported in the news?"

Norah clenched her hands tightly, her knuckles turning white, and her heart was stabbed fiercely. She looked at Tessa, not wanting people to notice that she was about to lose control of her emotions, and said in a cold tone, "You go out first. I want to rest for a while."

"Okay, Miss White, you have a good rest."

Tessa didn't dare to speculate and walked out of the ward.

Norah lay on the bed, wondering if Kevin had ever visited her when she was sick and in the hospital. It seemed that he hadn't. And Bianca made him so worried about anything. Regardless of everyone's speculation, he took her to the hospital, and there were so many people clearing the way, and he paid more attention.

She was indeed a lot worse. She looked at her phone, hesitated for a long time, and then called the familiar number. Soon, the other side picked up.

"Hello."

Hearing the voice, it seemed as if it was right next to her ear.

Norah didn't know what to say for a moment. Kevin's somewhat impatient voice came from the receiver: "If you have something to say, just say it, I'm busy."

Norah looked through the window and saw that he was frowning, as if her call had delayed something important for him. That's right, it was his sweetheart Bianca who was hurt. Suddenly, she regretted making this call, but she couldn't help but say, "I, I'm not feeling well."

Kevin covered the receiver and looked at the doctor coldly, as if blaming him for hurting Bianca too much when giving her the medicine. Turning sideways again, he asked, "What did you just say?"

Norah opened her mouth, with many words on the tip of her tongue. Why did Kevin marry her when he had someone else in his heart? Why did he marry her and still get entangled with other women? But if she thought about it calmly, she would not get the answer she wanted if she asked too many questions.

Norah: "Nothing."

"Norah, I'm busy. If it's nothing important, don't make trouble." After saying that, he hung up the phone and continued to care about Bianca.

Norah's eyes turned red, and she felt a sharp pain in her heart. Anger, heartache, and unwillingness... Countless emotions spread in her heart, and she held the phone tightly. 'It's time to end this relationship. It's time to set Kevin free.'

Chapter 7

After staying in the hospital for a while, Norah left with her injuries.

"Norah!"

When Gloria saw Norah, she noticed she was pale and had a wound on her head. She quickly caught her. "Oh my God, where did you get hurt?"

Norah didn't say anything. Gloria Turner was Norah's close friend.

"You were at work, right? This is a work injury," Gloria said. "Where is Kevin?"

Norah: "I don't know."

Gloria saw that her condition was more than just a simple injury and sneered, "You worked diligently for him, and your head got injured like this. He is your husband, but you can't find him. This husband is no different from being dead."

Norah: "Soon he won't be."

"What? He wants to divorce you?" Gloria's face changed.

Norah said, "I want to divorce him."

Gloria's attitude shifted. "Divorce if you want, divorce now!" She then warned her, "Remember to divide the property in half. The first step for a smart woman is to get the money if she can't get the man. Now that you have the money, are you still afraid of not finding a good man? You can find a few more then, good ones who can serve you every day!"

It was an agreement between them from the beginning. If they divorced, she would get nothing.

"Norah."

Gloria suddenly called her again, frowning and staring at her. "Why do you suddenly want to divorce him? You've liked him for so many years, you can't give up easily, unless he cheated."

Norah's face was grim, and a bitter smile appeared at the corner of her lips. "Didn't you see the report? Bianca is back."

"Bianca has only been back for a short time, and they are already together." Gloria was a little excited and continued to complain, "Cheating during marriage is a heavier crime, and you should get a larger share of the property. Norah, I warn you, you can't be soft-hearted. No matter what he says, as long as you are married, you should have half of the property, if not more. And if he cheated, if he doesn't agree, it will be known to everyone. I wonder if he still has any shame!"

"I have made up my mind." Norah's reaction was very calm.

She never made any unsure considerations. When she said it, it meant that she was really tired and didn't want to continue this hopeless marriage.

"I'll go to your place tonight. I don't want to see him."

As long as Norah thought of Kevin staying with Bianca for a night, she would definitely feel uncomfortable if she saw him again. Maybe they would quarrel again. There was no need to add extra troubles at the time of divorce. She thought there was no need to go back to the home that did not belong to her.

"Okay, you go to my place. I'll make you chicken soup to replenish your body. What kind of hell is the Edwards family? They raised you so thin. They are so immoral!" Gloria cursed while helping Norah walk, almost cursing the eighteen generations of ancestors of the Edwards family.

It was already early the next morning when Kevin came back. When he returned to the bedroom, he found no one in it, and the quilt was folded.

Usually, at this time, Norah was still sleeping.

Kevin asked, "Where is Norah?"

The servant paused. "Madam didn't come back last night."

Kevin remembered clearly that she had called him yesterday, and it sounded like nothing happened. Why didn't she come home suddenly?

He didn't want to put all his thoughts on Norah, so he didn't ask any more questions, took a shower, and went to work again. When he returned to the company, he learned that an accident had occurred on the construction site yesterday. Since he was not there, the responsibility lay with Norah, and she had disappeared as if it had nothing to do with her. She seemed to be out of work these days.

Kevin immediately called Norah.

Norah had just come out of the shower when she heard her cell phone ring. She picked it up and saw Kevin's name. She had a complicated look on her face before she answered, "What's the matter?"

"Where did you go last night?" Kevin said in a cold tone.

"At a friend's place."

Kevin asked seriously, "There was a serious accident on the construction site, why didn't you tell me?"

Chapter 8

Norah understood that he was serious about his work and would not allow any mistakes. But she could not be blamed for this. He was with Bianca in the hospital yesterday.

Norah said, "You said you had something to do and hung up the phone."

Kevin paused and pursed his lips. "How did you deal with it?"

Norah was in the hospital at that time and said, "I didn't have time to deal with it at that time, I..."

"Secretary Norah," Kevin said. "I remember that there would never be such mistakes in your work."

He deliberately called her "Secretary Norah" to remind her that she was a secretary, not a wife.

Norah bit her lip and was speechless. "The construction site can still be constructed. The problem is not big. I don't think it's that serious."

"If there is a problem, don't rush to make excuses for yourself. This is what I taught you before." Kevin said distantly, "Come to the company immediately!"

After that, Kevin hung up the phone decisively and resolutely.

Norah felt bad in her heart, but she didn't have time to think about the problem. Yesterday, she went to the hospital and didn't care about the situation at the construction site. She didn't know if it would get worse.

She packed up immediately and prepared to go to the company.

Gloria just got up and saw her in a hurry. She yawned, "Why are you getting up so early? Where are you going?"

Norah said, "I have something to do. I'm going back to the company."

"It's already like this, why are you still thinking about him?" Gloria felt it was unfair, but after thinking about it, she said, "Well, I've already sent the divorce agreement to Kevin's company."

Norah talked to her while changing her shoes, "Did you send it?"

"Yes, I ordered it to be expedited and sent it early in the morning. Kevin should have seen it."

Gloria's hands and feet were faster than hers.

Norah said divorce, and Gloria wanted her to divorce immediately.

But it's a matter of time, and it doesn't matter if it's earlier or later. Norah said, "It's just right, we have to divorce anyway."

Gloria took her arm mysteriously again, "Then whether you can become a rich woman in the future depends on whether you have a conscience! Norah, you have to be more motivated, use some tricks, and try to win!"

Norah saw that Gloria was very excited and more excited than her. She didn't dare to think too much and responded casually, "I know."

...

In the President's Office, Kevin was busy at work.

Kian walked in with a sealed cowhide bag. "Mr. Edwards, this is an expedited document sent by courier."

"Yes."

The cowhide bag was placed in front of him, and Kian walked out.

Kevin glanced at it sideways, opened it carelessly, and found the "divorce agreement" inside.

His face changed, and he took out the divorce agreement and looked at it.

After reading it, his face turned black, and a sneer came out of his mouth. "How dare you."

It demanded he give her two-thirds of his assets, and this marriage would end cleanly, or else all his scandals would be exposed.

Kevin's stony face never softened.

The backbone of the company was terrified and dared not breathe. They didn't know what was going on. It was like eating dynamite early in the morning, and no one dared to get closer.

Kevin flipped through the documents and said in a cold voice, "Why didn't you tell me immediately after the accident? Who was injured? Did you comfort the patient immediately?"

Tessa lowered her head tremblingly and said nervously, "Mr. Edwards, the situation was urgent, and I couldn't reach you. It was Miss White and me."

Kevin frowned and interrupted her, "It was her fault."

Tessa blamed herself and almost cried with a tearful tone, "Miss White didn't mean it. The accident happened too suddenly. It's my fault that I didn't take good care of Miss White. A piece of glass fell and hit Miss White on the head, causing her to be hospitalized and causing the construction site to stop working for a day, delaying progress. Mr. Edwards, it's my fault."

Hearing this, Kevin was stunned for a moment, "What did you say? The injured person is Norah?"

Tessa looked up blankly and asked anxiously, "Mr. Edwards, don't you know? Miss White was hit so hard that she had a concussion. The first thing she said when she woke up was to care about her work. She didn't even care about her health. Mr. Edwards, you couldn't get through on the phone yesterday, so you didn't tell her. I thought Miss White would tell you."

Chapter 9

At this time, Norah had already arrived at the office. The atmosphere in the entire office was very solemn.

"Miss White." When she came in, they all called out politely. "Miss White, is your head injury okay?"

Norah didn't want them to worry too much: "It's nothing serious. I rested all night yesterday and I feel much better."

"But you should rest more. Just ask for leave from President Edwards. You still come to work with an injury. Miss White, you work too hard." They all admired Norah. She did more work than life. They were afraid there would never be another Secretary Norah.

Norah and Kevin were still in a secret marriage. No one knew about their relationship, so she didn't dare to reveal too much: "I'll go to President Edwards first. You guys are busy with your own things. Don't worry about me too much."

When she arrived at the door, she heard Kevin say coldly: "Let all those who caused the accident on the construction site get out!"

Norah was stunned for a moment. She thought he would blame her.

Then, a group of people came out of the office.

The people who came out were dejected. Norah didn't have much emotion on her face. She walked in as usual.

Kevin turned his eyes to stare at her, focusing on the wound on her forehead. Seeing that her face was not very good, the wound looked a little serious.

"Mr. Edwards." Norah greeted.

Kevin retracted his gaze and did not talk about the construction site. He put the document in the cowhide bag on the table: "What do you mean by this?"

This might be the divorce agreement drafted by Gloria. Norah said calmly: "Mr. Edwards, I think you should be able to understand the divorce agreement. I am here today not only for the company, but also to discuss the divorce with you. I wonder if you have time?"

"Norah!" Kevin endured and increased his tone, and said coldly: "How come I didn't know you were still missing a child!"

Norah was puzzled: "What?"

Kevin threw it over: "Look for yourself."

Norah opened the file and found that the column for the reason for divorce read: The woman likes children, and because her husband is infertile, the relationship broke down!

Suddenly, Norah also felt very embarrassed. Gloria made a divorce agreement for her, and she didn't know when he secretly added a few clauses. Every sentence was biased towards her.

No wonder Gloria was so excited when she was leaving, as if she would become rich this time. But this was not very realistic.

She looked up at Kevin. He was angry, and perhaps he thought she was scheming and dared to ask for such a high price.

"Mr. Edwards, I sent the wrong agreement." Norah closed the agreement: "If you are in a hurry, I can get you another copy as soon as possible."

"I can't." Kevin had walked over, his face dark, as if to verify the meaning of this sentence.

She couldn't help but take two steps back: "Mr. Edwards, this, I may not be very clear, Bianca should be more clear..."

The next second, Kevin grabbed her hand and took her into his arms.

Norah had no ability to resist and was imprisoned by him and pushed between the table and him.

She supported the table with both hands, but her lumbar vertebrae hit the corner of the table, which was a little painful.

"You want a child so much, why didn't you say it earlier?" Kevin said.

Norah opened her mouth, but before she could finish her words, Kevin sneered again: "Or do you want to tie me down with a child? Divorce is a self-torture trick, the purpose is to have a child with me?"

His words made Norah's face worse and worse, and she struggled to push his hand away: "Mr. Edwards, don't go too far!"

Kevin became even more indifferent and distant, and said in a sharp tone: "Norah, I have never treated you badly in the past few years, don't think about those unrealistic things!"

He didn't understand her.

In his eyes, marrying him, her life would be rich and beautiful, with the title of "Mrs. Edwards," bright and beautiful. But she was not happy.

Norah calmed down and didn't want to argue with him too much: "Don't forget, the three-year marriage contract was set by you, I just brought it forward."

Kevin said, "It was set by me, and I have the final say. Without my permission, this marriage cannot be divorced."

Norah frowned. If they divorced earlier, wouldn't he be able to be with Bianca earlier?

Chapter 10

Norah was fulfilling his wish; he should be happy. Or was it his pride that was at work, thinking that she had brought it up and made him lose face?

Kevin shifted his gaze from her and said coldly, "It's time, go to work."

Norah looked at the time, it was exactly nine o'clock, it was time to go to work. She couldn't help but laugh, Kevin was really punctual and didn't allow her to be idle for a second.

Looking at Kevin's withdrawing back, he was full of coldness, and there was only a distance between him and her as a superior and a subordinate.

She didn't bother and walked out.

Kian was waiting for her outside the door: "Miss White, this is the document that Mr. Edwards asked you to handle."

The documents were like a mountain pressing on her hands.

Dust hit her face, choking her to cough, Norah asked: "It's covered with a layer of dust, how long is this document?"

Kian didn't dare to say: "I don't know, Mr. Edwards arranged it."

The people in the company looked at Norah with sympathy.

They thought she had offended Kevin, so she was asked to do such unimportant work. They even felt that she had fallen out of favor with Kevin.

Norah didn't know what was wrong with Kevin, but he was very abnormal and gave her some unimportant tasks.

"Miss White, you have to print fifty copies of these important documents. This is what Mr. Edwards needs, you have to do it well!" Paulina, who was also Kevin's secretary, put a stack of crumpled A4 papers in front of her, with a look of disdain and sneer in her eyes, as if she had fallen out of favor and she could immediately take the position and give her a blow.

Norah was still processing the documents. Seeing such a large stack in front of her, it was not as simple as just printing it, but also organizing it, which was impossible to complete without working overtime at night.

She raised her eyes and looked at Paulina, who sneered: "Norah, according to your business ability, it is impossible that it cannot be completed, right?"

Paulina and Norah were in a competitive relationship.

Kevin had been with Norah for many days, and the tacit understanding between the two was unmatched by others. This also made Paulina very jealous. Obviously, she was also very capable at work, but she could never compare to Norah. This accident had made their relationship worse, and Norah had to do the work of a low-level secretary.

She thought that Norah was luckier than her because she relied on her face to make a living. This time she must perform well and let Norah suffer a little.

Norah knew that she didn't like her. Usually, she was devoted to Kevin. No matter how much ridicule Paulina made, she would endure it and would not look at her twice.

This time, she was made difficult by her.

Norah didn't want to endure it anymore. If she endured it too much, others would feel confident: "Are these really the important documents that Mr. Edwards needs? If they are important documents, why don't you treat them properly? I have other things to deal with, and I'm afraid I don't have time!"

Paulina saw that Norah didn't do it, and said unhappily: "Are you trying to disobey Mr. Edwards?"

Norah looked up at her: "I only do what I can!"

"Norah, you are so bold, I think you don't want your job anymore!" Paulina was furious and spoke loudly.

If Kevin hadn't allowed it, he wouldn't let Paulina bully her.

She has been with him for so many years, and she didn't think of any feelings.

Norah stood up all of a sudden, stopped doing the documents in her hand, looked up at Paulina, and said coldly: "At worst, I don't want this job. You tell Mr. Edwards that I'm absent from work today. If he doesn't keep an eye on me, will his company go bankrupt!"

After that, she picked up her bag and turned to leave the company.

Paulina was almost mad, but she was looking forward to her fate. She shouted at her, "Okay, I'm going to tell Mr. Edwards right now. I'll see what happens to you!"

Paulina got the chance. Who dared to say that to Kevin? Now she told him what Norah said, wouldn't she be fired?

She really wanted to see Norah being fired.

She knocked on the office door and shouted, "Mr. Edwards."

Kevin didn't even look up, and said coldly, "What's the matter?"

Paulina stood there stiffly and said, "Mr. Edwards, Norah actually skipped work during office hours and left as soon as she said she would. She also mentioned that if Mr. Edwards didn't find someone to keep an eye on her, the company would go bankrupt. Everyone in the company saw this. Norah is becoming increasingly lawless. She lashed out at Mr. Edwards and cursed the company. I'm angry on Mr. Edwards's behalf. Her attitude makes it hard to take her seriously. Should we just fire her?"

Kevin's face was cold. He simply said, "Get out!"

He didn’t even want to listen to Paulina.

This left Paulina very confused. She knew that Kevin would be furious if he heard about this and would definitely fire Norah, but she didn’t expect that his anger would also affect her.

She felt a bit aggrieved, but seeing Kevin’s dark expression, she didn’t dare to provoke him further and left with a gloomy face.

As Norah arrived at the elevator door, a doctor with a medicine box stepped out of the elevator.

He was very tall and wore a white coat. When he saw Norah, his sunny demeanor immediately brightened, and he exclaimed, "Miss White, why aren’t you at the company? Where are you going with your bag? Didn’t Mr. Edwards tell you? I know you’re injured, so I came to check on you."

He was rarely called out by Kevin for treatment, so it was clear he was worried. He feared that something might happen to Norah.

Norah glanced at him and said, "You should still be concerned about Kevin and check on him."

With that, she walked into the elevator, ignoring the puzzled look on the doctor's face.

Chapter 11

Dr. Cody was confused. Was Kevin sick? Kevin had a physical exam recently, and everything was normal. Cody couldn't understand what the problem might be.

When Cody entered the office, he noticed Kevin's trousers.

Seeing Cody's strange look, Kevin frowned. "I asked you to check on Norah, not me."

Cody quickly looked away and smiled awkwardly. "Oh, it's nothing. I just saw Norah at the elevator. She seemed upset. Did you two argue?"

Kevin shrugged. "It's normal for women to get upset sometimes."

Cody felt uneasy and chose to sit on the nearby sofa instead of leaving.

Seeing Cody wasn’t leaving, Kevin said, "Norah's gone. You can go back now. I don't need you here."

Cody replied, "I just got here. Let's talk as friends."

Cody touched his nose thoughtfully and said, "Norah has her reasons for being angry. It's normal for couples to have issues. If you resolve them, your relationship can improve. Maybe you should visit the hospital and work on your relationship. Norah won't think less of you."

Kevin's face darkened, and he glared at Cody.

Feeling uncomfortable, Cody said carefully, "Couples need to be patient with each other, but serious issues should be addressed. If there's a treatment, shouldn't it be taken care of?"

Kevin asked calmly, "Did Norah tell you something?"

Cody swallowed hard and said boldly, "She asked me to check your health."

Seeing Cody approaching with a medical kit, Kevin snapped, "Get out!"

---

Norah returned to the Edwards house, planning to pack her things and leave.

Siena and her friends were playing cards, chatting and laughing about their sons and daughters-in-law. Siena often criticized Norah, praising other daughters-in-law for their good family backgrounds and virtues.

Norah was used to these comments and ignored them as she walked in, not intending to join the conversation.

When Siena saw Norah, she stopped playing and sternly said, "Stop right there!"

Norah paused and looked back. "What is it?"

Siena, looking displeased, scolded, "You're spending too much. You spent a million on my son all at once. Our family is suffering because of you. Think about this family. Which daughter-in-law spends money like you do?"

Norah was confused and felt it was outrageous. "When did I ever spend that much money?"

Since marrying into the Edwards family, she hadn't spent any of their money carelessly. Every penny she spent was her own.

Siena continued, "You're pretending to be innocent. Look for yourself! You spent a million on clothes. How could you? At this rate, our family will be ruined. I can't take it!"

Norah checked her phone and saw a million-dollar charge for women's clothing. She hadn't shopped recently and couldn't believe it.

She said sternly, "I didn't spend that money."

Siena didn't believe her. "If you didn't, who did? Are you saying ghosts did it?"

Norah insisted, "I haven't used my credit card."

Siena accused her, "You're still lying. Who else in this family can use a credit card? If I hadn't linked the family’s credit card, I wouldn't know you spent so much behind our backs. How much have you spent over the years? You owe me an explanation."

Norah knew as long as Siena disliked her, the Edwards family wouldn't feel like home. She didn't want trouble and wouldn't do anything reckless.

Feeling frustrated, she said, "You can check, but don't blame me if you're wrong."

Siena snapped, "What’s your attitude? If it wasn't you, who else could it be? You’ve always been after our family's money..."

"This money was spent by me," Kevin's voice came from the doorway.

Kevin had just arrived home and heard the argument. He walked in with a blank expression.

Norah and Siena turned to him. Siena, caught off guard, said, "Kevin, how could it be you? This is for women's clothing. Are you trying to protect Norah?"

Kevin replied, "It was for Bianca."

Siena fell silent, but Norah's face turned pale. She stared at Kevin with suspicion.

Kevin really spent that much on Bianca! A million for women's clothing! It was clear who he favored.

Norah's lips curled into a slight sneer as she walked upstairs without looking back.

Siena, pondering Kevin's actions, felt better. She said, "Kevin, I don’t mind you spending on Bianca. I just wanted to know."

Kevin, with cold eyes, said, "I lent it to her."

Siena was stunned. "Lent it?"

Kevin warned her, "Stay out of this."

Siena, initially happy, fell silent, seeing Kevin's serious expression. She wisely avoided further conflict.

Norah went upstairs to pack. Kevin's words made her determined to leave the Edwards family.

She knew her place. She didn't want any of the jewelry Kevin had given her, just her own clothes. As she packed, Kevin walked in, seeing her busy with her suitcase. He frowned and asked, "What are you doing?"

Chapter 12

Norah looked back and said, "I'm packing my suitcase."

Kevin asked, "Where are you going?"

Norah replied, "I'm going to my home."

Kevin's tone grew colder, "Isn't this your home?"

Norah, still hurt, looked up at him. "Do you think this place feels like home to me? I'm making room for you."

Kevin suddenly grabbed her hand, stopping her from packing. "How long are you going to make trouble with me?" he asked coldly.

Norah didn't dare to look up, fearing she would feel even more wronged and start crying. For the first time, she pushed him away forcefully. "I'm not making trouble; I'm serious. Mr. Edwards, please move aside so I can pack."

Kevin's face darkened as she stubbornly insisted on divorcing him. With a loud "bang," the door closed.

Hearing the noise, Norah looked up, only to hear Kevin's low voice, "Why do you want to leave?"

Norah remained silent.

Kevin approached her and asked, "Do you think I can't perform? Do you need me to prove it to you right now? Hmm?"

His words made Norah feel a chill down her spine. She suddenly remembered the words in the divorce agreement and realized she might have misunderstood him.

As she tried to stand, she found Kevin pressed against her. Her legs weakened, and she fell onto the bed, giving Kevin an opportunity. He pressed her down and looked at her with a flame in his eyes.

Norah felt pressured and lowered her eyes. "I didn't think that way. It's all a misunderstanding. Don't mind it too much. I'll draft a new agreement for you. You will be satisfied," she explained.

Her words angered Kevin. His tall body pressed down on her.

Norah was scared and didn't dare to move. She placed her hand on his chest. "What are you going to do?"

Kevin grabbed her chin and said coldly, "Norah, you keep talking about divorce. It seems I haven't been considering your needs."

As Norah tried to understand his meaning, she felt his body growing hotter. Suddenly, she understood and her face flushed. She was very nervous. "I didn't mean it that way, Kevin. Don't be too impulsive!"

"Is fulfilling the obligations of husband and wife impulsive?" Kevin retorted.

Norah quickly replied, "But you said at the beginning that we shouldn't cross that line!"

Kevin remained silent, looking at her deeply. His body, however, was restless, and his hand couldn't help but hold her waist.

Norah's body stiffened.

Although they had been intimate before, it had only happened a few times, and that night had been when he was drunk. Now, both of them were sober, and it felt strange, causing her body to tremble.

As the buttons of her clothes were unbuttoned, Norah felt a coolness.

But she remembered his indifference on their wedding night when he told her she would pay a price if she crossed the line.

Norah suddenly woke up and grabbed his hands, resisting with all her strength. "No, I don't want to now!"

Kevin's anger was extinguished by her resistance. Looking at her panic, his face turned cold. "Norah, I gave you a chance, but you didn't want it."

His distant and cold attitude made her feel disappointed. She said, "It's better not to have such an opportunity."

Kevin pursed his lips into a straight line, pulled his hands away, and got off her. He only left her with his back and said coldly, "You know in your heart that our marriage is a transaction. Don't think too much."

He put on his clothes and left the bedroom.

Suddenly alone, Norah was stunned and didn't move for a long time.

She felt so cold, sat up, held her legs tightly, and hugged herself, trying to protect herself from being hurt. She had always been aware, sinking soberly, and feeling pain because of his words.

Their marriage was a transaction; she couldn't afford to have any illusions.

She thought if there hadn't been this marriage, she would be much more relaxed. Without being constrained for these three years, maybe she would have fallen in love with someone else by now.

She closed her eyes and felt very tired. When will this cycle of loss and pain end?

Unknowingly, Norah fell asleep. Suddenly, she heard a noise and woke up.

In the dim light, she saw a figure stumbling to the head of the bed. Before she could react, the figure got on the bed and hugged her tightly.

He held her as if afraid of losing her.

Chapter 13

Kevin's body was warm, with a strong smell of alcohol, and his hot breath was beside her ear.

Norah shouted, "Kevin."

But Kevin put his arms around her waist, buried his head in her hair, and said in a low voice, "Don't move, let me hold you for a while."

Norah stopped moving. She didn't understand why Kevin drank so much. She lay under the quilt for a long time, her body almost stiff, wondering when he would get up. But he didn't move, just held her greedily.

Would he mistake her for Bianca again?

Norah shouted again, "Kevin..."

Kevin said, "I want to lie down like this for a while, Norah."

Hearing this, Norah fell silent again.

Kevin called Norah by her name, meaning he didn't mistake her for someone else. She rarely saw him in this state and felt a bit lost. But her heart softened, afraid he would fall asleep like this and catch a cold.

She pushed him gently, "Don't sleep like this. Either take a shower or cover yourself with a blanket."

Kevin turned over, raised his hand, and pulled Norah into his arms with the blanket. He hugged her tightly, and Norah's nose was filled with his scent, the smell of alcohol mixed with the fresh smell of his body.

At the same time, Kevin was staring at her. He didn't close his eyes but looked at her deeply, frowning slightly, as if he was unhappy.

Why did she have to guess whether he was happy or not? She turned her eyes away, not wanting to pay too much attention to him.

Kevin's hand stroked her forehead. His warm palm felt unfamiliar. She tilted her head, and he paused and asked carefully, "Does it hurt?"

Norah's nose felt sour, overwhelmed by grievances and his concern. "Why are you asking these questions?" she complained.

Kevin patted her back, trying to comfort her. "I will never let you go to such a dangerous place again."

Was he caring about her?

He had said their marriage was just a deal and told her not to think too much.

Norah couldn't help but look at Kevin again. This time he closed his eyes, but his hands continued to comfort her.

At this moment, Norah felt he belonged to her.

Only when they were drunk did their relationship feel closer, like an ordinary couple.

Norah raised her hand, wanting to touch his face and get closer to him, but her hand stopped in mid-air, and finally, reason dispelled her impulse. She knew this was just a fleeting moment, and everything would return to normal by morning.

He was Kevin, and she could only be Norah. She lowered her hand again.

Her face pressed against his chest, feeling his heartbeat and hearing his steady breathing. He must have fallen asleep.

She spoke softly, "Kevin, if the person you loved was me, I would be very happy, even if it's just a little bit."

She was easy to satisfy, but this was a luxury for her.

In the end, Norah also closed her eyes, wishing time could stop so she wouldn't have to wake up.

The dream had to end.

When she woke up the next day, Kevin had already left.

Norah got up and found a note on the bedside table with elegant handwriting: I'm going to the company. Rest at home and remember to eat well.

There was also a bank card next to it.

Norah picked it up, remembering the one million he spent on Bianca yesterday.

Did he think she knew and wanted to compensate her in this way?

She didn't know what Kevin was thinking. What was the point of loving Bianca while not divorcing her?

In fact, divorce and starting a new life had used up all her courage.

Kevin would never know why she fell in love with him and why she stayed by his side for seven years. Her beautiful youth and the best years of her life were spent on him.

Thinking about her withdrawal, she felt sad. She used up all her courage, but in the end, she had to retreat with nothing.

People should stay sober and not risk everything for a man. A one-sided crush will eventually become ridiculous.

Norah put the bank card in the drawer and never took it out again.

Gloria sent her a message that her art exhibition would start today and asked her to come and support her.

Although Gloria's advice was often unreliable, she worked very hard. She was a well-known painter and fashion designer.

Norah brought a bouquet of flowers over.

Gloria was entertaining others. After seeing Norah, she immediately pushed them aside and walked over, "Hi, Norah."

She hugged her immediately.

Norah hugged her back and congratulated her, "Congratulations."

"What are you congratulating me for? I'm used to it." Gloria took the bouquet and said, "I'm very happy you came. You are usually busy with work and may not come to my art exhibitions."

Norah felt a bit embarrassed, "I didn't think it through."

Gloria said, "Don't say that. You are my best friend. I understand you."

Norah was indeed very busy with work. When she was free occasionally, she could only have a small gathering with Gloria.

It seemed she had never participated in Gloria's career activities. This was the first time.

Gloria asked again, "How is the divorce going?"

Norah thought of her divorce agreement. "Speaking of this, do you want me to get a divorce or do you want me to get beaten?"

"You were beaten? Is Kevin a domestic abuser? Go settle the score with him!"

"I think you did it on purpose," Norah said. "No smart person would sign such an agreement, so why would Kevin sign it?"

Gloria pursed her lips, "I want to stand up for you. In this marriage, he just walked away without any loss, and he even wants to be happy with other women. But you have lost so many years of your youth. Even if we get divorced, you have to make him give up some of it! If he has a conscience, he won't let you suffer any grievances in terms of property."

Speaking of this, Norah felt quite unhappy. "Let's not talk about this today. Didn't you want me to witness your achievements? Let's talk about something happy. I know my limits."

"Okay, I'll listen to you." Gloria smiled and said, "Don't worry, I will always be with you through the difficulties."

Norah felt very warm at her words. She also smiled and nodded.

Reporters were present today, paying attention to Gloria's exhibition. She had to be interviewed, so she couldn't accompany her all the time. Norah wandered around alone.

Suddenly, she saw a figure walking over with a few people.

"Ms. Lynch, welcome to the exhibition."

Bianca smiled politely at the person in charge of Gloria's company, "No, I'm here because of your reputation. I really appreciate Ms. Turner's paintings."

"It's an honor for us. Gloria is being interviewed. Please wait a moment."

Norah looked at Bianca and subconsciously observed her. She noticed a small scar on Bianca's arm, covered by foundation.

If she remembered correctly, Bianca had just gone to the hospital yesterday. She thought it was a big wound.

Bianca was protected by Kevin and looked nervous. Norah felt it was a bit exaggerated.

Just as Norah turned to leave, Bianca saw her and immediately interrupted her chat with others and shouted, "Norah."

Norah looked up and saw her coming over, "You are here too."

Norah did not speak. Bianca continued softly, "Why didn't you go to work and come to the exhibition? Does Kevin allow you to come to such a place?"

"You don't need to worry about my affairs," Norah responded indifferently.

Bianca said, "No, I just didn't expect to meet you on such an occasion, and you are still alone."

She deliberately reminded her that she was alone and mentioned Kevin again, implying that Kevin never accompanied her.

Indeed, Bianca was very confident. After all, Kevin never accompanied her.

Suddenly, a woman came over and said, "Bianca, you look so beautiful today. This skirt is gorgeous. Where did you buy it?"

Bianca smiled happily and said to the woman, "It looks good, right? My boyfriend picked it for me."

"Ah, I think I've seen it in a magazine. It's over a million dollars."

Bianca said shyly, "Yeah."

"Your boyfriend is so good to you. He spent over a million dollars on a skirt. He must spend a lot on you."

Bianca glanced at Norah. "Of course, my boyfriend loves me, so he's willing to spend money on me."

This reminded Norah that the over one million dollars Kevin spent on Bianca was for the sparkling white skirt she was wearing. It suddenly seemed much more dazzling.

Chapter 14

The woman was Fiona Lloyd, the editor-in-chief of a magazine. She said, "Bianca, I've only heard that you have a boyfriend, but I've never seen him. I'm really curious."

Bianca lifted her hair and said, "I don't like him to appear in public, so I never let him accompany me to events. When we get married one day, I will definitely invite you."

"You're so mysterious, so stay tuned."

Fiona turned around and saw Norah next to her. She nodded politely, "Ms. White, we meet again."

Norah knew her too. They had met last time when she wanted to do an exclusive interview with Kevin. It was only through her that she could succeed.

She replied indifferently, "Ms. Lloyd."

"Do you know each other too?" Fiona asked, looking at the two of them.

Bianca said, "I know her, but I'm not very familiar with her."

She deliberately distanced herself from Norah.

Norah continued, "Ms. Lynch made such a big headline about her fiancé when she returned to Craggaville. Ms. Lloyd, no wonder you were curious. I was curious too. I thought she had returned from abroad, but it seems she hasn't."

Fiona was surprised and asked, "Isn't it true?"

"Ah, that was a random report by the media," Bianca said calmly.

She had deliberately reported that to test Kevin and see if he would care about her having a fiancé. But she heard that Kevin drank a lot of wine that night, which showed that he still cared about her.

"My boyfriend has been in Craggaville and has been waiting for me for many years. We have a stable relationship. It is impossible for me to change my mind and find someone else."

Bianca looked at Norah, and it was obvious she was talking to her.

She was also telling her that whether they were married or not, Bianca and Kevin's feelings had never changed.

Norah felt uncomfortable, but she was Kevin's legitimate wife, so it was not her place to provoke her.

"After so many years of love, why haven't you gotten married yet, Ms. Lynch? What are you waiting for?" Norah looked Bianca straight in the eye. "The media is so powerful, and Ms. Lynch, you're so popular, they must have captured some clues. Are you doing a good job of keeping secrets? I often read gossip news, and the last female celebrity in this situation seemed to be in love with a married man."

As they chatted, people walked by and recognized Bianca.

When Norah spoke, she would glance at Bianca, causing her to endure strange looks.

Fiona was also waiting for an explanation. Seeing that Bianca didn't say anything, she hesitated for a moment, "Bianca, it's impossible."

They all knew how noble Bianca was, and they never thought she would do such a thing. But as a public figure, she only talked about having a fiancé, which was indeed strange.

The words "married man" were a thorn in Bianca's heart. She clenched her hands into fists, "How is it possible? Don't talk nonsense."

She didn't want to be laughed at at the event.

Norah looked at her skirt and said, "A skirt worth one million is indeed worth spending. I wonder if such a coincidence will happen."

As soon as Norah finished speaking, Fiona also asked, "What coincidence?"

Norah looked at Bianca, smiling but not smiling, her words like a thorn in her heart. She said, "I don't know who heard yesterday that a certain boss cheated on his wife and used his credit card to spend a million on his mistress. In the end, his wife found out and they had a big fight."

Bianca's face turned pale.

Norah knew that no matter how deep the relationship between Bianca and Kevin was, as long as her marriage was still there, Bianca would always be in the dark.

Bianca was a public figure and would not gamble with her future. She didn't want others to know she loved someone else's husband.

Even if Norah and Kevin were secretly married, Bianca feared it would slip and become ugly.

Seeing that Bianca was upset and didn't say anything, Norah changed the subject again, "Of course, Ms. Lynch, I'm not implying anything, I just think it's too coincidental. I believe you wouldn't covet other people's husbands."

Fiona, sensing the tension, added, "I know Bianca, she doesn't like other people's husbands."

Bianca's eyes were a little red, and she forced a smile, "You are really a joke."

Norah, feeling hungry, went to find something to eat. Everyone was outside watching the exhibition, and there were not many people inside.

Bianca, unwilling to be humiliated in front of Norah, chased after her and said more seriously, "Norah!"

Norah ignored her.

"What do you mean?" Bianca's eyes were red, "Did you really want to ruin me just now?"

Norah took a sip of her drink, "If you have such thoughts, do you think you can still stand in front of me?"

Bianca said, "You are the mistress. Kevin and I have been in love for many years. It was you who intervened and separated us. If it weren't for you, I would have married him. The person Kevin loves has always been me. He is waiting for me to come back. When I come back, you can get a divorce!"

Her words pierced Norah's heart.

Her marriage with Kevin could only last for three years, just to wait for Bianca to return to Craggaville?

Norah looked back at Bianca, her tone much colder, "Ms. Lynch, isn't it ridiculous for you to say this? Kevin and I got married, I am his wife. What is your identity? Do you want people to know that you seduced someone else's husband?"

Tears silently slid down from the corners of Bianca's eyes. She wiped away her tears calmly and smiled, "Then who knows that you are Kevin's wife outside? Don't think I don't know, you married him for 10 million, you did it for money! Kevin didn't want people to know he was married because he wanted to protect my reputation. Your marriage was obtained by you through any means!"

Norah pursed her lips, and the sharp thorn pierced her heart more fiercely.

So that's it.

The secret marriage was for Bianca's reputation, and Norah obediently abided by all the rules.

Seeing Norah's face change, Bianca continued, "Norah, with your background, your marriage is for money. How can the Edwards family respect you? That's why you have never been valued. If you need money, I can give it to you. How much do you want before you leave Kevin honestly?"

Norah said, "The skirt you are wearing cost Kevin's money. How much can you give me?"

Bianca laughed, "This is a gift from him to me. I'm afraid he has never given you such a beautiful skirt."

Norah took a deep breath, afraid that she would be the one embarrassed in the end. She walked past her, wanting to leave.

Bianca grabbed her arm, saying, "Why are you leaving? I hit the nail on the head. Kevin has never carefully selected a dress for you, right?"

Her nail polish almost dug into Norah's flesh. Norah frowned and said coldly, "Let go!"

Bianca became even more aggressive, "Norah, face reality. You have never been loved. The empty reputation is just a decoration. Why are you so cheap and occupy a man who doesn't belong to you..."

"Pa!"

Norah slapped her in the face.

Chapter 15

Bianca's face immediately turned red. She covered her face with her hands, and tears fell again. She looked pitiful and lovable. She was indeed suited for the screen, pretending to be pitiful very convincingly.

If Norah hadn't seen her fierce demeanor earlier, she might have believed Bianca's act.

"Show some respect!" Norah spoke more harshly.

Bianca cried and said softly, "Norah, I have dignity too. How can you treat me like this? I didn't take your man away. Please don't misunderstand me."

"Norah!" Kevin's voice came from not far away.

Norah was shocked. Why was Kevin here?

She thought this might be a play directed by Bianca. She looked over and saw Kevin with a cold expression and sharp eyes, as if she had done something wrong.

Kevin strode over and pulled Bianca from Norah's side into his arms.

The force was strong, causing Norah to step back a few steps.

"Kevin." Bianca's tears fell.

Kevin stared at Norah with cold eyes and said forcefully, "Apologize!"

Norah looked at them, especially Kevin's cold words, which hurt her deeply. She felt devastated but had to endure the heartache. "Why should I apologize?"

"Didn't I see you hit Bianca?" Kevin said coldly.

Bianca immediately stopped Kevin, feeling wronged. "Kevin, don't blame Norah, it's my fault for making her unhappy."

"This is no excuse for her behavior!"

There were few people around, no reporters, and no one to take pictures. It gave them a chance to show their love openly.

Norah just felt suffocated. Being too confident can lead to embarrassment.

What was she to Kevin?

She was his wife, but more like a stranger.

Norah looked at Kevin and smiled bitterly. "I have never been willful in front of you."

She was never willful, so she never got into trouble.

'Well-behaved children don't get candy.' This saying is true.

Norah had been with Kevin for so long. When she got drunk at work events, she took a taxi home by herself. When she was sick or injured, she went to the hospital alone so he wouldn't worry. She didn't make him worry, but it seemed he thought she was invulnerable.

"Apologize to Bianca. Do you want me to repeat myself?" Kevin frowned, obviously impatient.

Norah said stubbornly, "I didn't do anything wrong, so I won't apologize!"

Kevin said, "Do you have to make me unhappy?"

Norah knew Kevin's patience was running out. If she resisted further, she would definitely be punished.

At this moment,

"Stop bullying her!"

Gloria saw Norah being bullied and her face immediately changed. She defended Norah. "Do you really think Norah is easy to bully and has no support? Kevin, Norah hasn't divorced you yet, and you're siding with this mistress. There are many reporters outside. Do you want to call them in to see this joke?"

Kevin glanced at Gloria coldly.

"What are you talking about?" Kevin said coldly.

Gloria was confident, but Kevin's stare overwhelmed her. "I mean, don't make it so tense, it will embarrass everyone in the end!"

She looked at Bianca and said, "There are many people here today. You don't want to make a fuss in front of the media, do you?"

Bianca certainly didn't want to make a big fuss. She grabbed Kevin's sleeve and showed weakness. "Kevin, forget it, I don't mind. I feel a little uncomfortable. Can you help me rest?"

Kevin looked at Bianca and saw her pale face. He pulled her arm. "If you're tired, don't participate in this kind of activity!"

He didn't pursue it further and took Bianca away.

Norah watched them leave. They didn't need to explain anything to her, they just left so frankly. This made her feel very ironic.

What was her title of "Mrs. Edwards"? Kevin never regarded her as his wife.

Seeing them walk out, Gloria cursed inwardly, "You two b*stards! So disgusting."

Turning back to look at Norah, she saw her eyes moist and her gaze following them. Gloria said, "Norah, don't be angry. I didn't know Bianca would come. If I knew, I would have stopped her. I'm sorry, I made you sad."

Letting her catch them was just adding fuel to the fire.

Gloria couldn't bear to see her sad.

Norah looked away and slowly unclenched her fists. "Even if she's not here, she'll appear somewhere else. This day was inevitable."

Kevin helped Bianca to the lounge and quickly let her go after she sat down.

He asked, "How's your face?"

Bianca had already gotten what she wanted, so she said, "It's fine now."

Kevin stared at her face with narrowed eyes. "Your face is so red. Are you joking?"

Bianca was stunned for a moment and touched her cheek, feeling hot and a little painful. She said, "This slap was indeed a bit heavy. Norah was too angry, and she didn't mean it."

"How can you shoot a magazine cover with this face?" Kevin interrupted her. "Your face is swollen. Can the foundation cover it? Don't delay your work."

Bianca realized she was supposed to shoot a magazine in the afternoon. "You can get some ice cubes to reduce the swelling quickly. Don't worry too much. I can do it."

Kevin gave an order, and someone came in.

Bianca's assistant applied ice cubes to her face.

Kevin was on the phone.

Bianca noticed his expression. He was very serious when working. Although he was a little unkind, he was still very charming, which made her heart pound.

She couldn't help it, and the corners of her lips curled up. She was closer to him and could help him with his work.

She and Kevin were a perfect match. Norah was nothing, at most just an assistant to him.

After Kevin hung up the phone, he glanced at Bianca and said, "You don't have to go today."

Bianca responded, "Why? I can do it."

Kevin saw that her face was still swollen. "It won't go away for a while. It will affect the filming. Let's talk about it tomorrow."

Bianca blamed herself. "I'm sorry. It's my fault. I knew we had to shoot in the afternoon, and I shouldn't have hurt my face."

Kevin didn't answer and said to her assistant, "Help her go back and rest."

Bianca wanted to stay with Kevin. Her afternoon shoot was postponed, so there was nothing to do. Her original purpose was to spend time with him. She pushed away the assistant who was helping her and said, "Kevin, I..."

At that moment, Kevin didn't notice her but made another call and asked indifferently, "Norah, where are you now?"
